Currently accepting adult, YA, and middle grade fiction and memoir proposals for the following services.
Query Letter Critique
$100 I'll review your query letter and provide feedback on structure, brief synopsis, voice, comp titles, and overall pitch.
Query Letter and Sample Pages Critique
$195 I'll review your query letter and provide feedback on structure, brief synopsis, voice, comp titles, and overall pitch. Additionally, I'll provide big picture feedback on your first 10 sample pages, which will include a critique of the opening exposition, characterization, plot, and dialogue.
$11/1,000 words I'll read your partial or full manuscript and provide a written report containing big picture feedback on your novel. The report will include an evaluation of the major elements of your novel, including overall plot as well as how major/minor events intersect and serve the larger story, worldbuilding, character development, character relationships, thematic elements, conceptual elements (such as supernatural/sci-fi concepts), voice and pacing/overall narrative arc. I'll outline what's not working and explain why, suggesting ways to improve in each area and sections to cut/expand.
$3/1,000 words A less comprehensive overview than a developmental edit, this will be a letter of no more than 5 pages assessing the strengths and weaknesses regarding the major elements (including plot, characters, worldbuilding) and potential paths to take to resolve them.
$36/hour My line edit will focus on the strength of your language in telling your story. I will make changes to word choice/language/structure to improve clarity, coherence, and voice, even where no errors exist. Additionally, using the comments feature in Word, I will point out areas that are unclear, ambiguous, repetitive, contradictory, or require more explanation and briefly explain why. The line edit does not include a full copyedit; I may correct grammar in areas where I improve voice, but will not comb the manuscript for errors in grammar/spelling/usage/internal inconsistencies in spelling/language. Please read my FAQ for more information on the difference between a copyedit and line edit.
